When we here at the Football Transfer Tavern learnt that Bayern Munich were after Luis Suarez we were not at all surprised. Now after a claim made by the Daily Express, we feel this move may well become a reality.
Suarez may be one of the most controversial players in the Premier League but he is also indisputably one of the best. Given that Pep Guardiola wants to build a team that is capable of not only winning the Bundesliga but also the Champions League in the same season it is not exactly a shock he wants Suarez as a part of his Bavarian revolution.
Clearly this would leave Liverpool with more than a little dilemma and according to the Express, the club are looking at Nigerian international Emmanuel Emenike as a potential replacement for the striker.
Emenike would not exactly break the bank coming in at a lowly £10 million, far far less than the club would expect to sell Suarez for – should that become reality and would leave Brendan Rodgers with more than enough to invest in at least one more top class player.
Our Liverpool fans here in the tavern do seem doubtful over the pedigree of the Spartak Moscow forward, yet after netting seven times for his club and four times in the recent African Cup of Nations it cannot be denied that the boy does have an eye for a goal. If he can replace Suarez however is another matter entirely.
