Liverpool in ‘advanced talks’ to sign World Cup hero this summer

gotzeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are on cloud nine after hearing their club is edging closer to a sensational signing.

Metro cite claims that indicate Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bayern Munich for the signature of midfielder Mario Gotze, which would see the former Borussia Dortmund ace reunite with Jurgen Klopp.

Since making the controversial move from Dortmund to Bayern, Gotze has found opportunities limited on club level but was a hero on the international stage in 2014 as he scored the winning goal in Germany’s World Cup final victory over Argentina.

However, back in Bavaria, Gotze continues to find opportunities pass him by and his desire for more regular first-team action means a summer transfer is likely, despite the fact that the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as manager could hand him a new lease of life.

The 23-year-old is still regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in world football and he’s attracting a wealth of interest, although Liverpool remain at the front of the queue. However, their lack of Champions League football next term may be costly.

Would Gotze thrive at Liverpool under Klopp’s guidance? Let us know in the comments below!
