Liverpool in the race for lethal forward with club reportedly prepared to spend big to land him

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern can hardly believe their ears after hearing this transfer rumour…

According to Le Parisien, the Reds could be in with a chance of signing Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. The French publication reports that the player is open to the idea of playing under Klopp provided that Liverpool reach the Champions League group stages, whilst the Reds themselves are said to be open to be paying the required €70 million (£61.2 million) to get the deal done.

This would certainly be a bold statement from Liverpool, with the striker undoubtedly one of Europe’s most deadly. Offering electric pace, technical brilliance and an incredible eye for a goal, he is in many ways the perfect forward. Last season he bagged 31 league goals in just 31 starts – proving his lethality in front of goal.

Liverpool clearly have a need for a player like him, too, with a serious rebuild needed at the tip of the Liverpool attack. Luis Suarez has really yet to be replaced at Anfield, and whilst Daniel Sturridge is a top player, his injury problems have made him unreliable.

Indeed, for many in the pub, Aubameyang might just be the perfect player for the Reds.
