The Daily Mirror claim that a former Chelsea player could well be in hot demand this winter and we in the Football Transfer Tavern are not surprised.
Champions League winner Salomon Kalou is reportedly attracting interest from both Liverpool and Tottenham with the sides willing to match the £2 million asking price for the winger.
Kalou spent a successful spell at Stamford Bridge and was there during Jose Mourinho’s first tenure, yet the manager is not interested in having the player back.
However, in better news for Kalou, there are at least two English sides who are keen to land him.
Since moving from the Blues after their Champions League triumph in Munich, Kalou has been pining for England and London especially, with moves back to the Premier League constantly mooted.
Now it seems that both Tim Sherwood and Brendan Rodgers, with the latter knowing the player from his spell under Mourinho, are willing to take the gamble and provide him with a Premier League lifeline.
The 28-year-old is so keen to return to England that he has even sounded out Arsenal, who were rumoured suitors for him last summer.
The Gunners are of course looking for some extra firepower up top after a host of injuries to key players.
Will Kalou get his Premier League wish this January? Let us know your thoughts below.
