Liverpool are expected to look for defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window and it appears Jurgen Klopp could turn to a player he once had on his books at Borussia Dortmund.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Mattias Ginter is believed to be on his radar, with it being claimed that he could replace Joel Matip in the backline.
Valued at £31.5million by Transfermarkt, the Germany international is a player that Klopp knows well, although he has since moved on to Borussia Monchengladbach and has excelled even further.
Liverpool have a real concern at the back in regards to depth, with the likes of Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren having to spend significant portions of the season on the sidelines, which has resulted in Fabinho having to fill in at times.
Liverpool should definitely look to address their defensive concerns in the summer transfer window and Ginter could be an excellent option for them to target.
As mentioned, the 25-year-old has been extremely impressive with his performances for Monchengladbach this season and looks to be an outstanding talent in the game.
With Klopp having already worked with Ginter for a season at Dortmund, reuniting the pair could work wonders for Liverpool and could make the defence even more stronger than they have already been at times this season.
