Liverpool have had a truly magnificent campaign so far, however, it could be about to come a whole lot better. Jurgen Klopp might be able to land a remarkable double this season that will lift the roof off Anfield!
Despite their potentially successful year, it would not be a surprise to see the Reds dive into the upcoming transfer window and look to make additions to their squad as they look to go from strength-to-strength.
One name appears to be linked with a switch to the Premier League giants, however, whether he is the right man for Liverpool to go for in the summer is highly debatable.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Kicker, Liverpool remain interested in Timo Werner this summer.
It is claimed the German striker could leave Red Bull Leipzig in the summer as he has no intentions of extending his present deal beyond 2020.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are both also said to be interested in the forward.
Werner would have to be considered an excellent potential addition at Anfield, however, is there really a need for Klopp to bring him to the club in the summer?
Sure, the Germany international is a clinical forward when it comes to being in front of goal, as he has 14 in his 27 Bundesliga appearances so far and would certainly add another threat to what is already a deadly front trio.
However, would he be able to dislodge Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino in the current Liverpool side? It would be hard to imagine him doing so. Xherdan Shaqiri was signed last summer and he has since seen his opportunities rather limited.
That may also go against them if they were to step up their interest in the forward, as it is extremely unlikely that the 23-year-old would want to see his game-time reduced drastically and may have better offers from the likes of Bayern Munich or PSG in the summer.
Time will tell, but it would not be a surprise to see Werner heading to someone other than Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool fans, do you think the club need Werner? Who would he replace in the team if he did join? Share your thoughts with us in the discussion below.
