Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have just heard they won’t be getting their hands on Stoke City’s talisman after talkSPORT reported that Mark Hughes issued the Reds a hands off warning over Bojan Krkic.
Brendan Rodgers has been planning a swoop for the former Barcelona wonderkid after he lit up the Premier League with his standout performances this term in his debut season.
He suits the Reds’ style of play as he is quick on the ball, direct and has bundles of ability but it will take a lot for the Reds to successfully take him away from the Britannia Stadium any time soon.
Hughes tried quashing the Liverpool rumours and labelled talk of a Bojan transfer as a “non story”, sending a message out to any other clubs who were planning a move for his star man.
He added: “Don’t bother. He’s done exceptionally well. We knew it would take a little bit of time for him to get to grips with the Premier League and he’s done that.
“He’s playing well. He’s a talented football player and I think he’s proving that in the Premier League.
“At this stage of his career that he’s had disappointments such as being sent out on loan by Barcelona, the disappointments he had in terms of his game time and maybe how he was treated in certain situations.
“So he’s come here and really embraced what we’re doing and I think he’s enjoying the environment that we can give him.
“I think he’s very happy. We have no intention of encouraging any interest in him. He’s a big part of what we want to do, moving forward, so it’s a non-story.”
Liverpool fans. Do you really think Bojan was the answer anyway? Surely he’s too similar to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho anyway? Let us know your thoughts below.
