Liverpool Unlikely To Offer More Than £2M

No one can dispute that Liverpool have strengthened their squad this summer, the arrivals of Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Alexander Doni have given the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Wayne Rooney something to think about, with both admitting that Liverpool will be amongst the title contenders this coming season.

Despite having already been busy in the transfer market during the close season, it looks as if Liverpool aren’t quite finished just yet, with their latest target, Swansea winger Nathan Dyer, perhaps a suprise to many.

Having graduated from the famed Southampton F.C. academy, Dyer was one of the few success stories in the clubs fall from grace following their relegation from the Premiership.

It wasn’t however until Dyer moved to Swansea that he really started to make an impression, the winger performing exceptionally in his two seasons there, and was named their Player of the Season as he helped them gain promotion to the Premiership for the first time in their history.

Whilst Kenny Dalglish may not have a first team role in mind for Dyer, he would provide good cover in a position that Liverpool lack strength in depth in. Throw into the mix that Dyer is still only 23, there can be no doubt that Dalglish and Damien Comolli believe the player can develop further and perhaps push his way into the mix for a place in the starting line-up.

Although Brendan Rogers will of course want to keep one of his stand out performers from last season at the club, it remains to see whether the prospect of joining Liverpool may be too much for Dyer to turn down. CaughtOffside  is reporting that Liverpool are ready to make a £2M bid for the winger, and with his contract running out at the end of next season, Swansea may not be able to hold out for much more.
