Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are anxiously waiting for their marque summer signing after the Daily Star revealed they are looking to hijack Chelsea’s bid for ex-Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao.
The Reds today have made their first three signings, with Adam Bogdan joining from Bolton, but most of them so far are considered as low-key signings.
Punters in the Tavern would be shocked though if Brendan Rodgers would be able to beat Jose Mourinho to the Columbian superstar.
Especially after the Blues boss said: “If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it.
“It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United.”
These are encouraging and convincing words coming from a gaffer who has just won the Premier League, so it will take a lot for Rodgers, who is under fire, to change his mind.
Chelsea are in talks with Monaco and the transfer fee is feasible, but the stumbling block is Falcao’s £275,000-a-week wages.
