Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen a breath of new optimism sweep their club following the appointment of Jurgen Klopp, as the German’s charismatic behaviour has made him an instant success on Merseyside.
Klopp will be hoping that success continues on a front where he predecessors struggled, the transfer window, and the former Borussia Dortmund boss is set to trust in youth by joining the race for exciting Portuguese talent Ruben Neves.
The Mirror says one of Klopp’s first instructions as Liverpool boss was to send scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action for Portugal’s U21 side on Friday evening and the player is one the Reds know well; as elite player development coach Pep Lijnder worked closely with the young players at Porto previously.
Lijinder identified Neves as an ‘outstanding talent’ and Klopp was previously targeting the player last season whilst in charge of Dortmund.
Regarded as one of Portugal’s next big players, Neves has starred regularly for Porto’s first-team since making his debut at the tender age of 17.
Liverpool fans, would Ruben Neves be a good purchase? Let us know in the comments below!
