Liverpool fans currently residing in the Football Transfer Tavern have massive smiles after yet another stunning three points yesterday.
A Luis Suarez hat-trick helped to maintain the Reds’ title hopes as they struck six once again to see off a plucky Cardiff City.
The result sees Brendan Rodgers’ side nine points clear of fifth place Everton and Champions League football is now set to return to Anfield next term
This incredible season of progress has taken them onto a new level in terms of transfer targets and therefore it comes as no real surprise to punters that the club are now looking at one of the most in-demand players as they seek to strengthen this summer.
Mail Online claim that Liverpool are the latest team to demonstrate an interest in signing Southampton left back Luke Shaw.
Shaw, 18, is the golden boy of English football after some outstanding performances for the Saints which were rewarded with his England senior debut against Denmark recently and he could yet win a late call-up into Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad.
Rodgers wants to bring the youngster to Anfield as he looks to improve his somewhat leaky defence, although he will face very strong competition from both Chelsea and Manchester United who are known to be also tracking Shaw ahead of a possible transfer showdown.
The defender is rated at around £30 million and the Saints will be very reluctant to sell their young starlet this summer. Despite this, the speculation in the tavern continues and now Rodgers appears determined to make a big statement by landing Shaw ahead of his Premier League rivals.
We’re not so Shaw that the youngster would fancy Anfield but what do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
