After Liverpool’s 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace on Saturday, the future of forward Mohamed Salah was confirmed by The Athletic’s Simon Hughes.
Salah and his future decided
The 28-year-old scored a brace at Selhurst Park as the Reds went six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, as their pursuit of retaining their domestic crown continues.
However, replying to a fan during The Athletic’s Q&A session after the full-time whistle, well-respected journalist Simon Hughes provided a short and sweet statement about Salah’s imminent future.
“He’s not looking to leave,” he said.
Transfer Tavern Verdict
This will be music to the ears of Liverpool supporters – to cap off what has been an extraordinary weekend for their club.
From 173 appearances, Salah has scored 110 goals and provided 45 assists since his £34m move from Roma in 2017 (TransferMarkt), and etched himself into the club’s history books after entering the top five all-time top goalscorers for the Merseysiders in the Premier League (via LFC History).
Liverpool have often had problems keeping hold of their key players when the La Liga giants come knocking. After winning the Premier League and Champions League in the space of 13 months, it looks as if those issues may have gone away.
