For the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, a few new signings are absolutely essential in the summer…
Liverpool have struggled over the last few weeks, with the end of 2016 also, seemingly, bringing an end to Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge this season.
The Reds are, of course, still in with a shout – but with 11 points separating them from Premier League leaders Chelsea, it is going to be a very tough ask for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
It makes sense, then, for Liverpool to already be looking towards next season with one eye – and it would appear as though Jurgen Klopp is doing exactly that.
According to the Mirror, Liverpool have held initial talks over a potential summer move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze.
The German midfielder has failed to cement his place within the Dortmund first team this season, and with Dortmund reportedly looking to recoup around the £20 million that they paid for him – Liverpool are seemingly keen to secure a deal.
One of Europe’s most well-known players, it just hasn’t happened for Gotze since moving back to Dortmund, but there is no doubting his quality. After rising to fame for scoring the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup, Gotze played fairly regularly for Bayern Munich – before he switched back to Dortmund a few years later.
Gotze has scored and assisted just once so far this season.
On his day he is unplayable, though, as the video below shows…
