Liverpool kept the pressure firmly on Manchester City with their victory against Chelsea at the weekend and could finally end their 29-year wait for a top-flight trophy to an end. The Anfield outfit will quickly turn their attention to the Champions League now as they look to seal their place in the semi-finals.
However, it appears that Jurgen Klopp’s side have a talented attacker on their radar that has been sending shockwaves throughout Europe with his performances this season.
What’s the News?
According to L’Eqiupe (via Sport Witness), Liverpool are understood to be one of a number of British clubs interested in Nicolas Pepe.
It is claimed the Lille attacker could be worth around €70million (£60.5m).
Pepe has been in exceptional form for Lille this season, having been a real thorn in a number of club’s side. He has 19 goals and 11 assists to his name so far, so it is hardly surprising to hear his name be linked with some of the Premier League’s biggest sides.
However, Liverpool seems to be a little bit of a stretch. The Reds are hardly lacking in the attacking department when it comes down to scoring goals and being a threat to their opponents. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been lethal throughout the campaign and also appear to complement each other’s game.
But, should Klopp lose any of his talented forwards in the summer, then it would not be a surprise to see the Anfield outfit make a move for him.
He would fit straight into the system that the club currently operates with on the pitch, as he has the pace to be a nightmare and would certainly thrive in the front three that Liverpool currently deploy.
Liverpool fans, would you like to see Pepe at Anfield? Do you think he is the type of player needed if the main trio still remain at the club? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
