Liverpool keen to make Brazilian star their third summer signing

Roberto FirminoA lot of people in the Football Transfer Tavern enjoyed watching Spain get trashed last night but the focus today is on the domestic leagues.

According to Metro, Liverpool are to open talks with German club Hoffenheim over a deal for Brazilian midfielder Roberto Firmino.

Reports in Germany suggest that Liverpool chief Ian Ayre will fly out to engage in negotiations with the 22-year-old in the next few days.

Brendan Rodgers has kept his eyes on the Brazilian star in recent weeks and it’s thought he’s grown fond of the versatile youngster.

Firmino can play as a creative attacking midfielder but is also as comfortable playing out on the wing or as a striker, having scored 16 goals in 33 games this season.

He also grabbed 11 assists and Liverpool could be set to prepare a bid of around £15 million to £20 million.
