Liverpool supporters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are in a pretty content mood, after what has been a turbulent 2017.
The club’s form was to put it frankly, horrific, at the start of the new year and some fans here in the Transfer Tavern were calling for Jurgen Klopp to be sacked!
However, that meltdown has slowly subsided here in the pub with the Merseyside outfit finally starting to pick up the pieces and look like the side that looked so ruthless at the start of the campaign.
Liverpool’s recent 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday is still on the brains of many of the Reds punters in the pub, with many replaying Adam Lallana’s golden chance to win the match.
A key talking point from the game was the treatment that the Manchester City fans gave to Liverpool’s James Milner.
Consistent booing was heard from certain sections of the Etihad Stadium towards Milner, and many of the Reds fans here in the Tavern in attendance on Sunday were simply shocked at their behaviour towards the 31-year-old.
As our landlord quips, what on earth did Milner do to upset City fans so much? And, it seems that Liverpool legend John Aldridge was on the same wavelength as the landlord,
“What was the booing of James Milner all about on Sunday?” Aldridge said to the Liverpool Echo.
“I thought the jeering of him from so-called Manchester City fans was idiotic and moronic.
“You wouldn’t get Liverpool fans abusing a former player in that way unless he’d left the club under a bit of a cloud, such as Raheem Sterling.”
Strong words from Mr Aldridge… But he has a point!
Liverpool fans… What did you make of the City fans’ treatment of Milner? Let us know below!
