Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are nodding their heads in agreement at today’s copy of Metro.
This is because the publication seem to think that the club are ready to get a loan deal in place for Steven Gerrard to come back to the club from LA Galaxy for issues encompassing fitness.
Given Major League Soccer boasts a rather elongated off-season period, it only makes sense that a player could return to the Premier League to perform during the season and as Manchester City have shown with Frank Lampard, that can pay off rather handsomely.
Ian Ayre was asked about bringing Gerrard back to the club from LA Galasxy who will of course be his new employers and noted: “It happens a lot in MLS and it’s something we talked to Steven and his representatives about.
“The fact that he’s leaving at the end of the season doesn’t mean it’s the last we’ll see of him at Liverpool.”
Now the majority of our regulars think that is a brilliant idea but as our landlord cautions, sometimes it is a better idea to make a clean break from a player and try to move on.
This is something both Liverpool and their loyal band of fans will find hard to do with the shadow of Gerrard looming over them.
Liverpool fans. Is this the best thing you could do or is it time to make a clean break from Gerrard? Let us know your thoughts below.
