Liverpool legend wants change in tactics from Rodgers after mediocre start

rodgers2Liverpool have endured a terrible start to the season, a run of results that has led to Liverpool fans sinking a few too many pints in sorrow here in the Transfer Tavern in recent weeks.

After they sunk to a lacklustre 3-1 defeat to Manchester United this weekend, many of them have been discussing at all hours of the day the best way to get their season back on track.

Now Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has his say as reported by the Mirror. He reckons that Brendan Rodgers needs to ditch his treasured 4-3-3 formation and revert back to a system with two strikers – one that was very successful two years ago.

The ex-England international thinks they lack creativity and goals in the side and thinks that playing two up top would solve the issue.

Some good news for our Liverpool fans here in the Tavern is that striker Daniel Sturridge is back in full training after months of being on the sidelines with various injuries, including surgery on his hip.

His return could be just the boost that the Liverpool team need, and he could be the perfect partner to new £32.5m signing Christian Benteke in a new look Liverpool team.

Fellow pundit Gary Neville also reporting for Sky Sports says the team also lacks pace – something Sturridge has plenty of and his inclusion would certainly inject some much needed speed.
