Liverpool line up Mexican international

dossantos.jpgLiverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern are excited at the prospect of a busy summer transfer window for the club, and Jamie Sanderson of Metro reckons the Reds are in the running to sign an exciting talent from Barcelona.

Midfielder Jonathan dos Santos has opened the door to a possible move to Brendan Rodgers side in the summer, after admitting he is growing frustrated with his lack of game time at the Camp Nou.

Dos Santos is rated as one of the most promising young midfielders in the game, but has struggled to break into a side containing the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, and has managed just 10 first team appearances to date.

The Mexican international has since been demoted to the B team, and has caught the attention of several big clubs across Europe, with Liverpool thought to be the most interested.

Brendan Rodgers has made a habit of signing young attacking players with potential since taking the reigns at Anfield, and dos Santos would fit into that bracket once again.

The player himself has admitted he would seek a move in the summer, but only to a club that could offer him regular first team football.

“Next season is incredibly important to me,” said the 22-year-old.

“I want to play more and more often. At the end of the season, I will sit down and see what’s best for me.”

Real Betis and Malaga have also shown an interest, although Liverpool are thought to be the front runners.
