Liverpool love to reward their players with new contracts, don’t they? The Reds have handed their key performers new deals throughout the season because of the impressive displays they manage to produce.
And, it appears that one man who was on the fringes of the senior side just a year or so ago has done enough to convince Jurgen Klopp that he deserves a new deal to remain at Anfield.
What’s the News?
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are looking to keep Divock Origi at the club and will offer him a new deal.
Klopp is said to have been ‘blown away’ by the Belgian’s attitude and application at Melwood and has rewarded him with match time over the course of the campaign.
Things have really improved for Origi this season at Liverpool as Klopp has given him the chance to show what he can bring to the team.
The Belgium international has been used ahead of the likes of Xhedran Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge in recent months, whilst he also managed to secure a last-gasp winner against arch-rivals Everton in December.
In fact, the 23-year-old has featured in nine of the last 11 matches that Liverpool have played, which quite clearly shows that he has forced himself into first-team reckoning with his performances and the attitude he has displayed in training sessions.
Origi has not been short of options in the past when it was felt that he would be leaving Anfield, with Wolverhampton Wanderers seemingly close to securing his signature last summer.
However, it now appears he could have a key role at Liverpool and could play a part in helping them lift the Premier League title and/or the Champions League trophy at the end of the current campaign.
Liverpool fans, are you surprised to hear that Origi may be getting a new deal to remain at the club? Share your thoughts with us below by joining in with the discussion.
