Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern passing time with a game of dominoes and hoping for exciting news on the transfer front may have for exactly what they asked for, as it appears Jurgen Klopp is continuing to make advances.
The Daily Express, citing Italian publication Gazetta Dello Sport, state Liverpool have approached Champions League finalists Juventus to enquire about the services of Alvaro Morata- a player the Reds are prepared to pay £45m for.
Liverpool are struggling for firepower this season with Daniel Sturridge continuously absent through injury, whilst Christian Benteke has failed to spark life into the Reds attack following his mammoth £32.5m arrival from Aston Villa in the summer.
The Reds are therefore believed to be in the market for a top-class forward but approaches for Morata will fall upon deaf ears, as it’s stated that Juventus are adamant they want to keep-hold of the Spanish forward.
Liverpool will also face competition in the market for Morata, should he become available, and the former Real Madrid striker will likely demand Champions League football that Liverpool can’t offer him.
Our landlord believes this was a very ambitious approach from Liverpool and that they may have to lower their expectations, should they continue to scour the market.
