Liverpool will be eagerly awaiting their Champions League encounter with Porto on Tuesday night, as their hopes of achieving a double remain alive. Jurgen Klopp’s side managed to ease past Southampton last week and kept the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Despite being in contention for obtaining silverware at the end of the season, the Anfield outfit still have areas of the pitch that they need to address, and one of their latest rumoured targets would be the man to help strengthen the side in more ways than one.
What’s the News?
According to Belgian publication DH, Liverpool have made a bid for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Thorgan Hazard.
Although no fee has been reported, it has been claimed that their offer is believed to be higher than Borussia Dortmund’s €40million (£34.4m).
However, Klopp could find it difficult to bring him back to England as the player is not thought to find the prospect of heading to Anfield too attractive as there are concerns that he would not get regular playing time.
Hazard has been rather exceptional this season for Monchengladbach and has proven how good he can be going forward.
The 26-year-old has managed to score 12 times in the Bundesliga so far and has also managed to provide 11 assists to his team-mates as the German outfit fight for a place in the Champions League next season.
The Belgium international could be the type of player Klopp needs at Liverpool next year, as he would certainly be able to bring the creativity and attacking threat that the team have lacked at times throughout the campaign.
Hazard has an excellent ability of being able to put the ball in the box rather accurately, whilst his passing and ball skills are nothing short of impressive. Add those to the fact that he can finish effectively, the 26-year-old looks to be on course to match his brother’s ability, a certain Eden Hazard.
In today’s transfer market, a fee a little more than the £34.4m for a player of his quality would have to be considered a steal and one that should certainly be made by those at the club.
However, it might be difficult for Liverpool to actually convince him to play for them as there seems to be some concerns about his chances of playing regular football at Anfield.
And, it would be rather difficult to blame him when the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are all in the side and continuously putting in some top-quality performances.
Liverpool fans, would you like to see Hazard at Anfield in the summer? Can you see him in the first-team on a regular basis if he did join the club? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
