Manchester City and Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have created a tense atmosphere after talkSPORT revealed that both sides have rekindled their interest in Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.
The 28-year-old has been at Lyon since 2010 and since his move to the Stade de Gerland he has been subject of speculation linking him with numerous Champions League sides.
But the reason why he has not been able to make the step forward in his career is due to a string of injuries.
Although, the Reds and City are seemingly ready to give him his chance in the big time, now that he has had an impressive season in Ligue 1.
Arsenal are one of the clubs previously to have tracked the Frenchman but now his agent, Didier Poulmaire, believes new clubs will crop up in the summer transfer window.
“In any market window some foreign clubs come knocking at the door for Yoann,” said Poulmaire.
“In the past it was the Manchester City to come forward, while this year it happened to be Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.
“The top clubs follow him and know his talent and I am sure that will come during the next market with offers for him.”
