Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see one of their experienced names is responding in the right way to new signings, as he’s relishing the challenge.
Metro, quoting Sky Sports, state Simon Mignolet is unconcerned with the challenge in the Premier League campaign ahead, with Jurgen Klopp having signed goalkeeper Lorius Karius to compete with the Reds current Belgian stopper.
Mignolet signed a new long-term contract midway through last season but question marks have been raised about his long-term suitability, especially after Klopp splashed cash to bring Karius into Anfield from the Bundesliga.
Many players would shy away from a challenge but Mignolet believes the battle will make him an even better player.
‘It is something positive. It will push you on and only make you better. Competition for places, you will always have that at the highest level, and I think that is something that is really good for this team.’
‘For every place and every position there are more than enough people who can do the job when needed and that is what you need to have in a good team.’
Our landlord believes both goalkeepers will be given plenty of opportunities next season, which chances shared across all competitions, and thinks both stoppers will be very good for the Reds.
