There is no shortage of punters looking up here in the Football Transfer Tavern, after the Daily Star claimed that Will Hughes appears set to stay at Derby County this winter.
As our landlord tells us over pouring a couple of our finest pints of ale, the starlet is not only highly rated, but he is also sought after.
A host of Premier League clubs are keen on him, including the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and yesterday’s FA Cup conquerors Chelsea.
The 18-year-old has looked a revelation in the Championship and not only has he grown into his position at the club, but has looked better and better with each passing game.
Despite the rumoured links away from Pride Park, it seems that at least for now, the midfielder looks set to stay at the Championship side and aid their push for promotion, with the Rams chief executive Sam Rush claiming: “Will is best placed in Derby.
“There is a huge amount for him to achieve here and I don’t feel commercially it is the right time for us to entertain any other discussions.
“You look at a variety of factors when you make a decision.
“Is it right for the player? Has he already maximised his contribution to the club – is there any more he can do for us? And is he at the height of his potential in income you can generate?
“The answer to all three is ‘no’.”
Where will Will Hughes end up eventually with his future seemingly in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
