Liverpool midfielder commits future to England

IbeAs reported by Sky Sports, young talent Jordon Ibe has committed his international future England after a month of debate – the London born winger had been eligible to play for Nigeria through his father, but has opted to play for England instead, and our resident punters here in the Transfer Tavern are delighted!

Ibe was quoted by Talksport saying “I was born here and have played in the younger age groups. I want to take it up to the first team one day.”

The winger got his first call-up to the England Under 21’s side earlier this month and could even be promoted to the senior squad by Roy Hodgson as early as next month, when England play the their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania. Having already qualified for the tournament it could give players like Ibe experience at senior international level.

Ibe broke onto the first team scene last term after he joined Derby County on loan at the beginning of last season but after an impressive start was recalled back to Liverpool in January. Where he went on to make 14 appearance for the Premier League club, and Liverpool fans who have been watching him closely in the Transfer Tavern think he could be a real star!

After Sterling’s big money departure, a plethora of Liverpool fans here in the Tavern feel Ibe is his direct replacement for the winger!

England fans, do you think Ibe will be a successful player at international level in the future? Let us know your thoughts below!
