West Bromwich Albion could be set to pursue the signing of Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho, as boss Tony Pulis prepares to wave goodbye to captain Jonny Evans.
Evans looks set to sign for Manchester City before the deadline closes and Albion are eyeing-up the £30 million rated Frenchman as an ideal replacement.
The West Brom fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been alerted to this news courtesy of one of the regulars reading today’s edition of The Telegraph, with the prospect of Sakho joining the club has excited them to say the very least.
Sakho has fallen way down the pecking order at Anfield following a falling out of sorts but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is reluctant to budge on the gastronomic asking price of £30 million.
Albion boss Tony Pulis could recoup as much as £25 for his current captain when he departs for Pep Guardiola’s City revolution and his attentions have now apparently turned towards the France international.
Sakho went on loan to Crystal Palace last season but he desperately needs some regular game time, with a move to a new-look West Brom likely to be a good one for the 27-year-old.
The Landlord’s Verdict
The burly presence of Sakho is one that will send shivers through many strikers in the Premier League and it is disappointing that a player of his quality isn’t playing much football right now.
The signings of James Rodriguez, Gareth Barry and Oliver Burke indicate that Tony Pulis is wanting to change the fortunes of the Albion and Sakho could be a solid piece of the jigsaw at the Hawthorns.
