Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rolling their eyes at the latest claim from the Daily Mirror.
The publication note that Iago Aspas could well be set for a loan move away from the club this January.
The 26-year-old has failed to fit in at Anfield since his move from Celta Vigo in the summer and now it is claimed that Spanish side Valencia would like to take him on loan for the rest of the season.
As one of our punters quips, this is just the latest in a long line of failed buys by manager Brendan Rodgers, and casts further doubt upon his transfer dealings.
The club do not have money to waste and spending £7.2 million on a player who has not settled and not exactly cut the mustard when given a shot at the starting line up is not ideal to say the very least.
As he pours a pint, our landlord takes a minute to note that the club are flying high this season, and have been very impressive, but that does not give Rodgers a pass when it comes to his summer buys.
The likes of Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho, Luis Alberto and Aspas himself cost £34 million combined and have only managed to notch up 11 starts between them. Hardly the type of players you want to be spending your war chest on really!
Will Aspas complete a temporary loan switch back to La Liga this January? Let us know your thoughts below.
