Liverpool will be desperate to get the better of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon in what could turn out to be a season-defining match for the Reds, with a loss working in Man City's favour.

The Reds have come on leaps and bounds under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp as he continues to bring fans' Premier League dreams to life at Anfield. But, supporters will know that there's still a long way to go from here on in until the end of the season, with memories of Liverpool's pursuit under Brendan Rodgers still haunting many.

However, with Football Insider claiming that Liverpool would accept £30 million for Dejan Lovren in the summer transfer window, perhaps Jurgen Klopp should already be looking at potential replacements.

One player who could slot right into the heart of the defence at Anfield is Ajax's Matthijs de Ligt.

Interestingly, according to a report from Bleacher Report, Liverpool are keen on the 19-year-old, but there are doubts over whether they would pay £75 million.

The youngster has made a name for himself in recent times over in Holland and he's already well on his way to becoming a star. De Ligt plays alongside Virgil Van Dijk on the international stage with Holland, so the pair of them could become untouchable if they were to link up at Liverpool. Also, the Reds star could play a huge part in persuading him to make the move England as they clearly know each other very well already.

It's safe to say that fans would struggle to contain their excitement if De Ligt made the move to Anfield as their side's defence would be sorted for years to come, and they'd bag themselves one of the world's best defensive partnerships.

And, he's even been dubbed as the 'new Van Dijk' (as per the Mirror), which adds more incentive for FSG to go out and splash the cash on the central defender as they've seen how good Van Dijk has been this season.
