Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are unsure on whether or not spending £37m on Roma’s Miralem Pjanic is the answer, as the Daily Mirror revealed that he is earmarked as Steven Gerrard’s replacement.
The Reds have made it no secret that they are willing to pay what is ever necessary to make the transition to life without Gerrard as smooth as possible.
There have been loads of names thrown into the hat for Brendan Rodgers to pick from, and it is believed the Bosnian international is his number one target, if Rodgers chooses to pay the full £37m, it would break the club’s record fee.
Reports suggest that the Reds have contacted Roma and are set to offer the midfielder a wage of £160,000-a-week, making him the highest earner at Anfield.
If Rodgers is able to land Pjanic, he hopes that this would give him an advantage as he also targets central midfielder Radja Nainggolan, 26, and attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic, 23.
