Liverpool need to land £40.5m-rated attacker to catch Man City next season

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted by the performances of their attacking front-three this season, but recent reports suggest they could be set to add further talent to their ranks in the final-third this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have enjoyed unexpected levels of success in Europe this season, largely due to the frightening intensity in which they break with speed and precision. Mo Salah has been central to everything positive Liverpool have achieved, but the club cannot continue to rely on the electric Egyptian in the seasons to come.

Injuries and suspensions can make a huge difference to the complexion of a Premier League title race, so Liverpool must ensure they are well prepared for any potential scenarios by bolstering their strength in depth this summer. According to The Daily Mail, that’s exactly what they’re in the market for, as the media outlet believe they have joined Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the race to secure Malcom’s signature this summer.

Malcom (valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt) has attracted plenty of interest this season due to his brilliant form in Ligue 1 for Bordeaux. In 33 outings, the Brazilian winger has managed to score 10 goals and provide 6 assists for his teammates – an excellent record for a player who only recently turned 21-years-of-age.

The interest from outside the club appears to have tempted Malcom to embark on a new challenge this summer, and according to L’Equipe (via ESPN) Bordeaux’s owners have strongly suggested they will sell their prize asset this summer, providing a fair offer is made for his services. With that in mind, Liverpool should do everything they can to convince Malcom to join the Reds over the other interested parties, as his presence at Anfield could enable the club to usurp Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League.

Man City have imperiously dominated the division this season, but Liverpool will be desperate to prevent them from emulating their achievements once again during the next campaign. Liverpool’s victory over the Citizens in the Champions League proved they are capable of competing with the very best, but without the relevant strength in depth they will fall short over the course of a 38 fixture season once again.

Adding Malcom to Liverpool’s selection of fine attacking talents would give the club a fresh attacking dimension to utilise next season and allow Klopp to tinker with his options depending on the opponent, so the club must ensure they make his signature a priority during the summer window.
