The name Carlos Tevez fills the Football Transfer Tavern today after the Daily Star reported that Liverpool has been given added hope in their transfer pursuit for the Manchester City striker.
Brendan Rodgers has reportedly lined up a move for the 29-year-old former Manchester United forward as a high quality replacement for the unsettled Luis Suarez who could secure a transfer to Real Madrid this summer.
Tevez only has a year left to run on his current deal and his latest comments have put Liverpool on alert for a possible swoop.”I really don’t know anything about my future – I have to wait for news,” he is reported to have explained to Chilean radio station Radio Cooperativa.
“I am on vacations and for the moment I haven’t been told anything.”
Wages remain an issue for the Reds with Tevez understood to be paid a weekly wage of around £200,000-a-week and this factor could see Tevez ending up with other interested parties including Italian giants Juventus or French big spenders Monaco .
Would Tevez prove a good acquisition for Liverpool this summer? Should City keep hold of the Argentine international? Let us know your thoughts below.
