Liverpool on alert as £37m midfielder drops major transfer hint

gotzeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been dancing with glee this afternoon, after hearing that an exceptional midfielder has dropped a hint he could move to Merseyside.

The Daily Express states Liverpool are on alert for the signature of Mario Gotze, as speculation that the £37m-rated midfielder could leave Bayern Munich.

German World Cup winner Gotze rose to fame with Borussia Dortmund, under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, but has seen his career stagnate since he left to join Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

A transfer is unlikely to happen until the summer, where Carlo Ancelotti will decide the future of the talented German star, but Gotze refused to rule-out the chances of a reunion with Klopp on Merseyside.

“I’m under contract here until 2017. We will see what happens. No one has contacted me yet.”

Liverpool are ready to back Klopp in the summer transfer market amid a major rebuild, with it clear upgrades are required to bolster the current squad and the Reds chances of returning to Champions League football.

However, fans are wary that their struggles to land a top-four finish this season could leave them empty-handed in the race for Gotze, as they believe a player of his talents will attract vast interest from Champions League clubs should he become available.

Our landlord in particular believes Juventus will be in the hunt for the midfielder, with the Turin side looking for a central midfielder to fill the void left by Andrea Pirlo’s departure last summer.
