Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are bracing themselves for a return of a forgotten man, which many playing pool have admitted they forgot is still on their books.
The Daily Express states Liverpool are in talks with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa to end the loan deal for Tiago Ilori early, with the 22-year-old yet to feature for the struggling outfit so far this season.
A season-long loan agreed in the summer does not allow Liverpool to recall the defender but Villa boss Remi Garde wants to axe the loan deal swiftly, as he believes the defender will not feature at all in the second-half of his campaign.
Villa signed Ilori on Deadline Day for a £1m fee, with the option of making the deal permanent this summer for a figure of £6m. However, that option seems extremely unlikely to be taken by the side rooted bottom to the Premier League standings.
It could end up as positive news for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s defence plagued with injuries- meaning that youngster Ilori could find himself in the first-team picture for the first time in his Reds career.
However, our punters are unconvinced by the player and have stated that if he can’t find game time at the club bottom of the table, then there’s no chance he can be useful to a Champions League chasing club.
