Liverpool ordered to stump up £37m for Gerrard successor

pjanic.jpgLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are frustrated as talkSPORT reveal that Roma have asked the Reds to match their £37 million asking price for star midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnian international midfielder has been tipped to be the man to pull the club through their time of transition as they prepare for life without club legend Steven Gerrard.

Punters think that although Pjanic is a fantastic player, he will not be able to emulate Gerrard’s influence at Anfield.

Whilst they passionately believe that Emre Can has a huge role to play in midfield, despite being a key part of the Reds’ defence this term.

Punters believe that at the moment Can is best deployed in the back line as he grows and grows in the Premier League.

Can, who is only 21, has been a much needed cool head in Liverpool’s defence as they have been under some extreme pressure this season.

But next season, he could be the appropriate time for Can to step up into his more familiar position of midfield and he could fill in for Gerrard’s absence.

Liverpool fans. Do you agree that Emre Can is the long-term heir to Gerrard’s throne or does the club need to invest in a £40 million player? Let us know your thoughts below.
