Mateo KovacicWith their side not in action until tomorrow, Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are taking advantage of a free Saturday to keep a track on what their Premier League title rivals are doing.

The fact that we can say that with less than a handful games of the season left demonstrates the remarkable season that the Anfield side have enjoyed under Brendan Rodgers.

From Europa League contenders to Premier League challengers in less than 12 months.

With Champions League football very likely to be back on the agenda next season, these Reds fans are already getting exciting about the potential recruitments they could see in the summer.

Another new name has arrived in the tavren this afternoon as Metro report that Rodgers is preparing an £8 million offer for Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic.

The 19-year-old is very highly rated in Italy, having impressed in his few performances for Walter Mazzarri’s side.

However he has recently been dropped which has brought about speculation about the young midfielder departing the San Siro, with Liverpool reportedly heading the queue for Kovacic.

Kovacic’s agent refused to confirm the talk this week, but he has revealed his client is unhappy, telling reporters: “Everybody is confused as to why Mateo is not playing.

“Is there a row with Mazzarri I can’t say a lot, but he is not happy.”

He is expected to star for Croatia at this summer’s World Cup but Rodgers is keen to move before then to land him at a reasonable price.
