Liverpool plotting summer spending spree as Klopp’s plans begin to take shape

The 2016/17 season was a successful one for the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, but next season is going to be far tougher…

Following Liverpool’s top four finish this year, the Reds will return to the Champions League next season. This will not only demand an increased level of quality in order to compete, but it will also mean that the Reds will need more bodies to choose from – with fixture congestion likely to ramp up considerably.

Jurgen Klopp, though, is a manager with a plan – and according to the Independent, the Reds are targeting a host of players this summer as the German looks to improve his squad. It is said that the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Timo Werner and Naby Keita are at the top of Klopp’s target list this summer – whilst Andrew Robertson and Ryan Sessegnon are also being considered.

These players certainly seem to tick quite a few boxes for Liverpool, with the Reds’ squad in desperate need of improvement. The acquisition of Virgil van Dijk, who is undoubtedly the player with the highest profile that is being touted with a move, would improve the Liverpool defence tenfold, whilst Navy Keita would help to add some real steel in the heart of the Reds’ midfield. Timo Werner, alongside the recently signed Dominic Solanke, will offer Klopp some real energy and enthusiasm going forward – with Liverpool desperately lacking attacking depth over the last year or so.

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait for all of these plans to come together…
