It’s last orders in the Football Transfer Tavern and as the bell chimes I can hear claims Ben Jefferson from The Express that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Zakaria Bakkali in the summer.
This is not the first we’ve heard of the 18-year-old Belgian starlet after he was previously linked with a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal and Spanish giants Real Madrid.
However the latest speculation indicates that Liverpool are plotting a summer bid for Bakkali after the starlet stalled over signing a contract with the Dutch club.
With PSV reportedly worried they could lose the promising attacker on the cheap in the near future, they could consider any offer for his services in the summer.
Jefferson explains to punters that PSV are desperately trying to keep Bakkali at the club but their case hasn’t been helped with a lack of first-team action this term.
The youngster won plaudits as he hit a hat-trick against NEC Nijmegen earlier in the season and he recently won his first cap for the Belgian senior national team.
That has impressed Rodgers who has sent scouts to watch him during the past season and an offer could be on the table soon.
Can the Reds fend off competition for the latest Belgian starlet? Let us know your thoughts below.
