Liverpool plotting to beat Arsenal to Spanish international

martinez.jpgLiverpool are on the hunt for numerous players this summer and it’s left the Reds fans in the Football Transfer Tavern more than a little excited.

According to The Mirror, Brendan Rodgers is keeping his eyes on developments at Bayern Munich after rumours of unrest.

Many reports over the last few months have linked Javi Martinez with a move away from the Bundesliga giants and Liverpool are the latest club to have cast an eye on his talents.

Martinez has grown disillusioned with life at the Allianz Arena since Pep Guardiola took over having been shifted around the squad – even to centre back.

But Liverpool will have a serious fight on their hands should Martinez force a move away from the club with Arsenal also said to be major fans of the Spaniard.

Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his attraction towards Martinez and would love to bring him to the Emirates Stadium as they look to replace the ageing Mikel Arteta.

Martinez wouldn’t be cheap though having cost Bayern £36 million from Athletic Bilbao in 2012.

But if Liverpool are to compete in both the Premier League and the Champions League, they will have to spend big and that is exactly what Rodgers is hoping to be able to do.

Liverpool fans. How much do you think you need to spend to compete at the highest level next season? Let us know your thoughts below.
