Liverpool fans are looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by Metro that the Reds are considering making a £6 million bid for Real Madrid ace Alvaro Morata.
The Real Madrid Castilla graduate has been promoted to the senior side this term after being on the fringes of things last season, scoring a memorable goal against Levante and has seen his reward come in the shape of the promotion.
The player himself is keen to remain at the Bernabeu and is willing to wait for his chance.
Not only is Rodgers in the race for the star but Real Madrid have already turned down a reported £10 million offer from Sevilla for Morata.
The Andalucian side are looking for a forward after Alvaro Negredo departed for Manchester City and now it seems they may have to turn elsewhere if they don’t up their initial bid.
Rodgers is a big fan of Morata and was impressed with his performances for the Spanish Under-21 international side at the recent European Championships, yet will have to pay considerably more than the £6 million currently offered and have to do some serious convincing to get the 20-year-old to leave the club he loves.
Not only does Rodgers have his eye on Morata but he is facing a fight to keep Luis Suarez after more rumours emerged over the Uruguayan’s future.
Can Rodgers lure the young Spanish star to Anfield? Let us know your thoughts below.
