Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern this afternoon enjoying some cheese and wine stated they want massive additions to their struggling squad- and it seems their prayers have been answered.
Gazetta state Liverpool have joined Premier League rivals Arsenal in the hunt for Juventus’ Alvaro Morata, who is widely-regarded to be one of the best young strikers available on the European market.
Signed from Real Madrid previously, Los Blancos have a buy-back clause in the 23-year-old’s Juventus contract but their transfer ban imposed by FIFA has scuppered their chances of bringing the Spaniard back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Whilst Juventus are not keen on cashing-in, it’s stated Liverpool are preparing a huge offer of £45.8m to persuade the Turin giants into a sale.
Jurgen Klopp has inherited a Liverpool side short of firepower despite the Reds signing a striker in every season in recent memory, with one of the most recent additions being Christian Benteke; who arrived in the summer for £32.5m.
Our fans all agree that Liverpool overspent on the Belgian and believe the money would have been better utilised elsewhere, as they claim Morata would be the ideal signing to propel them back to where they want to be.
However, the lack of Champions League football could be a problem and Liverpool don’t look on-course to land their targeted top-four finish this season.
Liverpool fans, is Morata the ideal signing? Let us know in the comments below!
