The Liverpool supporters who have gathered here in the Transfer Tavern are intrigued to find out who will be next through the door this summer, with boss Jurgen Klopp starting to shape his squad for the 2016/17 campaign.
The Reds have been relatively happy with the German’s business so far, although they are hopeful of a few more renowned names signing for the club before the transfer window closes.
One of the Reds’ ardent supporters is just tucking into his mixed grill ordered from the Tavern’s award-winning menu, when he spots an article in German paper Sport Bild via the Liverpool Echo which claims that the club are interested in German starlet Max Meyer.
The Schalke attacking midfielder is thought to be available for around £28 million and the Reds are preparing to chance their arm for the 20-year-old this summer.
Meyer featured fairly regularly for the German club last season and scored five goals throughout the campaign and adding eight assists.
One Liverpool fan is sat puffing on a cigarette in the Tavern’s beer garden and he thinks Meyer would be a waste of money, stating that the club are already well stocked with attacking midfielders and that a left-back must be more of a priority.
Liverpool fans, would you welcome Meyer? Would he be a waste of money? What other areas need strengthening before you take on Arsenal on the first day?
