After two close defeats during the festive period, Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping for a productive transfer window as they try to rebuild ahead of a possible title challenge.
Jamie Sanderson from The Metro has now arrived in bar to suggest that the Reds are looking to bolster their midfield by landing Udinese star Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu in January.
Rodgers publicly lamented the club’s lack of depth following yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, The former Swansea boss was forced into bringing on young left-back Brad Smith for his first-team debut at Stamford Bridge due to injuries.
While adding another full-back remains a clear priority, Liverpool are also in need of a natural defensive midfielder, and Ghanaian Agyemang-Badu is a new target.
The 23-year-old is highly-regarded in Italy and has reportedly been recommended to Rodgers by his host of European scouts.
Agyemang-Badu has previously told of his desire to feature in the Premier League and that could see the Reds making a £7million offer for the powerful midfielder.
He would offer versatility to the Anfield outfit given his ability to play in both midfield and defence, meaning he could provide valuable back-up as the Reds chase Champions League football.
Arsenal and Tottenham have both previously scouted the player, who is well-known for his aggressive approach.
Would the Ghanaian midfielder prove a suitable transfer for the Reds? Let us know your thoughts below.
