Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern continue to show their excitement ahead of their first transfer window under Jurgen Klopp and they’re ecstatic to hear suggestions that the Reds boss is plotting his moves already.
The Daily Express states Liverpool are preparing a move to capture Empoli ace Riccardo Saponara in the New Year, with the club keen to do business to strengthen their claim for a top-four spot come May.
However, the Reds face a test if they are to convince the Serie A outfit to sell as sporting director Marcello Carli claimed last month no player will leave in January.
“No-one will move in January. We’ll keep all our players. Then in June we’ll evaluate any offers that come in, in line with club policy.”
“We’re used to rumours about our players, it means we’re doing well. Saponara in particular is an important player for us, and his absence [through suspension] is weighing heavily. You have to see the positives in every situation though, and without Riccardo some interesting young players have had the chance to prove their quality.”
Liverpool may also have to convince the player to move, as Saponara’s best chance of making Italy’s squad for the European Championships next summer may well be at his current club.
Liverpool fans, is Saponara the player you need? How much would you pay? Let us know in the comments below & check out this tweet for your chance to win a vintage shirt!
