Liverpool readying move for Leeds United man as alternative target set for new deal

klopp0987822Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have the Europa League final on their mind but, as is customary in the bar, it’s transfer gossip that’s on the agenda in the beer garden.

Football Insider says Liverpool have turned their sights onto Leeds United full-back Charlie Taylor, after hitting a brick wall in their pursuit of highly-rated Celtic man Kieran Tierney.

The Reds are seeking a new left-back this summer to provide competition to Alberto Moreno and Taylor has established himself as a target, with the 22-year-old putting in some very good performances for Leeds over the past two seasons.

Celtic’s Tierney was believed to be Liverpool’s prime target but with the Scottish side progressing in talks regarding a new contract for the youngster, Jurgen Klopp’s side have turned their sights elsewhere.

Taylor’s contract with Yorkshire outfit Leeds has just one-year remaining and they could be persuaded to cash in, if the player fails to give an indication that he wants to remain with the club.

Leeds finished 13th in the Championship this season, 15 points off the play-off places and 19 above the drop zone.
