There are some interesting reports this evening in the Football Transfer Tavern as John Edwards from Mail Online enjoys a drink in the bar.
Edwards begins by informing the few Liverpool supporters sat around the bar that Brendan Rodgers is preparing to increase his interest in Derby Country wonderkid Will Hughes as he looks to ward off attention from Manchester United.
The Reds are looking to seize the initiative by moving for the 18-year-old when the January transfer window opens with Rodgers prepared to fork out the asking price for the Championship ace as he looks for Hughes as a long-term replacement for legend Steven Gerrard.
New Rams boss Steve McClaren put Premier League suitors on red alert earlier this week as he confirmed that the East Midlands side were ready to sell Hughes in January as long as their wanted fee was met, which is believed to have risen over £10 million. For the moment at least Hughes remains a Rams player, so it is certainly worth keeping tabs on the odds at bwin.com/en/championship before upcoming matches to see if he is backed to score in that game.
Rodgers is now planning to make a swift move for the left footed player before David Moyes can make his swoop for Hughes as has been reported in recent weeks at the the bar.
Liverpool, of course, are trying to piece together a top young side made of the best youngsters from across Europe and Hughes fits the bill in that regard.
