The Guardian seems to contain the best news it could possibly hand to Liverpool fans right now and our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern cannot stop smiling at it.
According to the respected publication, Reds right back Glen Johnson could well be sold come January after contract talks between the player and Merseyside club broke down.
The 30-year-old England international is coming to the end of his current deal and is considering his options.
The former West Ham United and Chelsea man would be free to talk to other clubs come January should the situation remain the same.
As our regulars note, we cannot see Liverpool fans taking the news that the defender may get a new deal well. Johnson has been widely trolled on Twitter and other social media platforms for his performances before injury struck this campaign.
Given Liverpool are in dire need of a better back four, we certainly would advise against putting Johnson back into the starting line-up ahead of Javi Manquillo, let alone even considering offering him a new deal!
Liverpool fans. How pleased would you be to see the liability that is Johnson shown the door? Let us know your thoughts below.
