Liverpool ready to let expensive transfer flop leave soon

Christian BentekeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have long heralded Jurgen Klopp as the Merseyside messiah but his impact hasn’t quite got the punters at the bar celebrating on full flow just and certain players have failed to shine.

One of those players is £32.5m summer recruit Christian Benteke, who’s been a shadow of his former self since his transfer to Anfield, and our lads playing pool have been alerted to a video from Bleacher Report’s insider which suggests the Belgian will be offloaded this summer.

Benteke has struggled to lead the line this season and saw Roberto Firmino preferred to him for the weekend’s thrilling 5-4 victory over Norwich City, despite the Brazilian being a natural attacking midfielder and not an out-and-out forward.

The writing seems to be on the wall for Benteke though, as it’s stated Liverpool will let him leave after this summer’s European Championships in France; where Belgium enter the competition with the pressure of being ranked number one in the world.

Benteke is set to go down as the latest name in a long-line of strikers who failed to make the grade at Anfield, with Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli being other names on that list.

Our landlord believes Liverpool were crazy to ever pay the price they did for Benteke and that their transfer policy needs serious groundwork to ensure failures like this don’t occur again.

Liverpool fans, should Benteke be offloaded? Let us know in the comments below!
