The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern want their side to make a big splash in the transfer market this summer, and according to the Times, Jurgen Klopp is seemingly looking to do just that…
The Times are reporting that one of Liverpool’s priority targets this summer is RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, with the Reds keen to add some midfield steel to their impressive side. The problem, though, is that the German outfit are not keen to sell any of their key players, and so the Reds are going to have to pay big to make the deal happen. A fee of around £50-60 million could well be demanded, but the Times report that the club could be willing to pay that much, such is the desperation of their interest.
Indeed, the arrival of Keita would certainly make an impact for Liverpool, with the midfielder one of the Bundesliga’s standout players so far this year. Signed with very little fanfare, he has made a real impact, offering dominant, technical and abrasive midfield play in the heart of the German side’s midfield.
With Liverpool having to rely on the likes of Lucas at points this season, a few new signings in the heart of the midfield are pretty important this summer, and Keita would certainly fit that bill. A fee of £60 million would certainly represent an inflated figure, though, given that Keita has only really had one year at the highest level. It would be a risk for Liverpool, most definitely.
Though the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are not expecting the Reds to pay as much as £60 million, they are hoping that a deal will come to fruition.
