Liverpool really should look to bring £13.5m-rated African midfielder to Anfield this summer

Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are daring to dream as the club chase their sixth European Cup as a final in Kiev against old foes Real Madrid awaits the Merseyside giants, following their stunning win over Roma in the semis.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have blown everyone in the competition away so far this season, despite their early season struggles in the Premier League. Indeed, the Reds have netted five goals against Porto, Maribor and Roma on their road to the final, as well as beating Manchester City fairly easily over two legs.

They are also on course to secure another top-four finish in the Premier League which will secure European football at Anfield again. Klopp has rotated his squad heavily this season with Liverpool lacking squad depth; only three senior midfielders are available for the second leg in Rome. Despite Naby Keita arriving from RB Leipzig in the summer, Liverpool need to invest in some squad players so they can compete on multiple fronts next campaign.

Now, St. Mary’s to Anfield is a well-travelled road with the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Sadio Mane making a move in recent years. Should the Saints go down, Liverpool should raid them yet again.

One player they should target is former Juventus midfielder – Mario Lemina – who is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt.

The 24-year-old Gabonese international moved from the Serie A for £15m last summer but is far too good to be playing at Championship level. He has completed more successful take-ons than all of Liverpool’s current midfielders, according to Squawka, highlighting his ability to turn defence into attack.

The Saints would surely be unable to stand in his way should he request to leave and Merseyside could be the perfect home.

Liverpool fans, would you like to see Mario Lemina join the club?
